Roseola: I don't like you. Leave my baby alone
Sick baby. Day 4.
After 3 days of having a sick little baby girl, Abi's fever finally broke. I was all smiles and happy dances [ I absolutely dislike babies being sick. Breaks my heart.] Today [day 4] we woke up and saw her covered in tiny little light-pink dots. What the heck??. Andrew ran to the doctor with her while I stayed with Mr. Jo boy at the house. While waiting for them to come back, I was texting with a friend and telling her about Abi's symptoms, and she mentioned that her little girl had something similar called "Roseola" when she was a baby, and that might be Abi's case also. She happened to be right.
I never heard that term before (I'm not sure what that would be in Spanish... didn't really look it up either, hehe). Roseola, ( according to the little printed sheet that Andrew got at the doctor's office) is "a common, contagious childhood disease characterized by high fever and skin rash. It usually affects infants and young children (ages 1-3 years)." No treatment for it, baby just needs to stay at home, eat well and rest. It will go away in a week.
That means two things. #1 Quarantine (for both baby and mama). #2 Possible risk of firstborn to get it as well (since it's contagious). I'm really hoping Jo boy doesn't get it. That's all I ask at this point. It's not really a big deal at all. I just don't like sickness... period. It makes my heart sad. I was sick a lot when I was a little girl (asthma), but that, I guess, will be the topic for another blog post. Ha.
Here's my super trooper Abi. Even when sick, she's the cutest.thing.alive.ever. [yep, I drooled on my computer once again)

Before and After: photo editing
Today has been a very chill day. That's a great thing considering the night we had. Our little Abi Liv had a temperature that reached 104, but thank God, baby Tylenol and a midnight bath and it came back down. So, we didn't get more than a couple hours of sleep. As the day went on, we turned into a couple of parent-slugs trying to make it through the day. Since we promised Josiah a trip to the park today, we decided Papi would take him while Mami stayed at home with baby sister. After watching "The Devil Wears Prada" together, Abi finally fell asleep and I ended up having a little "me" time to just chillax and enjoy.
Like I said before, some friends lent us their Cannon Rebel T2i for us to learn and just kind of play around with since we only have a point and shoot. I'm so excited about it, I really enjoy taking pictures and would love to get the hang of photo editing, even if it's just the basics. So, I started messing with Photoshop a little bit, and remembered a tutorial for picture editing by The Daybook. I picked a random picture of my little handsome and tweaked it a bit. Here's my very first photoshop "Before and After":

Editing was just tons of fun. I'm a happy [very sleepy] camper. Have a fun weekend!

[thrift]ed: vintage chair
This year, Value Village screamed "MERRY FREAKIN XMAS TO YOU!" in my face... or at least it felt like it. I went there trying to find some old lace to finish wrapping a few presents (like a month before that, Andrew and I agreed that we wouldn't give each other presents, so that we could get our little Jo boy a rather nice guitar ). As I'm walking through the furniture (which is the very first thing I always do, regardless of what I go there for) I see this gorgeous chair, almost hiding behind all the dressers. It was love at first sight. We had a moment. The next second, I found myself sitting on it, trying to get a hold of Andrew. It was impossible. Of course, when you REALLY need to get a hold of someone, you don't have signal, right? Well, I carried the chair to the front, sat on it right next to the cashier and started texting him. There was no way I was gonna leave this cutie behind. A couple of weeks later, here she is [ at home, where she belongs ].
I'm in love

Photo a Day Challenge. Day 4: Letterbox
This is not mine, but I sure do wish it was! One day, when we own our house, I'll have to find one of these.

A brand New Year
We had a wonderful New Year's Eve. We were able to spend it with some of the most wonderful friends and family. Surprisingly, both Jo boy and Abi Liv stayed up till midnight, and they were able to see the ball drop and celebrate with us the beginning of 2012. The next morning, I woke up sick but happy to see the hubs and both babies snuggled up in our bed. My fav way to start a new year. Andrew took Jo Jo to church, the park and our friends house. I had girls time with Abi, resting, baking cupcakes, doing laundry and watching 23 bizillion episodes of My Fair Wedding :). Our friends let us borrow their DSLR camera for a little while, so I'm having fun learning some photography. That's one of this year's resolutions for me. We also want to get out of debt, go to visit my family in Argentina (more than a resolution, it would be a miracle!!), go to the gym on a regular basis, drink water on a regular basis (am I the only one that feels like water makes her queasy???), and blog like a champ. Welcome, 2012! Bring it!
